A COLLABORATIVE RECORD BETWEEN NOISE DUO METALUX AND LA-BASED NOISE ARTIST JOHN WIESE, A FEATURE OF THE DIY/NOISE SCENE SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL.
THIS IS WAY MORE INSCRUTABLE THAN THE OTHER METALUX ALBUM I REVIEWED ON HERE AND I HAVE TO SAY NOT AS GOOD. I FEEL LIKE IT IS A SATISFYING ATTEMPT TO BE WHAT IT IS TRYING TO BE (A PROVOCATIVE EXPLORATORY MUSIC/PERFORMANCE PIECE CUT ARBITRARILY INTO 'SONGS') AND THERE ARE SOME REALLY GOOD TONES AND MOODS. BUT I GUESS THAT ISN'T ENOUGH, AND AFTER THE THIRD GURGLED VOCAL OVER ANALOGUE SYNTH MISFIRING, I STARTED TO LET THE WHOLE THING SEEP OUT OF MY EARS AS SOON AS IT WENT IN.
I CAN SEE A NUMBER OF REASONS WHY AN ARTIST MIGHT NOT WANT TO LEAD WITH THEMSELVES IN A PROJECT AND LET THE MUSIC DO THE TALKING. BUT THIS RENDERS IT LIKE A ROCKFACE WITH NO TOEHOLDS. HOW DO I START CLIMBING, I WONDER? DO I WANT TO START CLIMBING? WHAT IS THE POINT IN FUCKING CLIMBING I WONDER AFTER TRACK 4. AND SO ON.
SYSTEMATIC BUT NOT NECESSARILY FAIR REVIEWS OF AS MUCH OF THE LOAD RECORDS DISCOGRAPHY AS I CAN FIND OR ABIDE (no I do not have downloads)
