VON RYAN EXPRESS - UP ON THE BLOCK b/w SOULPATCH III and WHITEY'S BIG CHANCE 7" (LOAD 002)

THIS VIDEO IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. WATCH IT. THIS IS A TIME THAT NO LONGER EXISTS AS FAR AS I CAN TELL.

LOOK AT THIS MEETING OF FREAKS AND ARTISTS AND REGULAR RESIDENTS OF PROVIDENCE CAUGHT UP IN THE CROSSFIRE OF SOME HONEST TO GOD NO WAVE PARTY MUSIC PLAYED ON THE STREET AT HIGH NOON (EARLY EVENING AT A GUESS). A GUY WHO LOOKS LIKE HE WALKED OFF A LOCAL GOLF COURSE PLAYS SOME GREAT FREE TRUMPET OVER THE SKRONK. IT'S A BIT LIKE LORD HIGH FIXERS OR SOME SHIT. I LOVE IT.

CAN'T FIND THE B-SIDES ANYWHERE BUT THE A-SIDE IS BARITONE SPRECHSEGANG OVER SOME SKRONKY GARAGE ROCK. IT'S GOT A NICE BEAT AND VIBE TO IT. I SORT OF HEAR THE HEROINE SHEIKS BUT LESS SMUG AND ANNOYING. TED FALCONI JAMMING ON GUITAR FEELINGS. GOOD THINGS.

THIS WAS THE ONLY SINGLE THEY'D DO FOR LOAD. THEY DID ONE ON A LITTLE BOUTIQUE INDEPENDENT YOU WON'T HAVE HEARD OF CALLED SUB POP AND THEN BACK TO A PROVIDENCE LABEL CALLED OVER THE COUNTER WHO ALSO DID A SPLIT RELEASE OF BOSS FUEL (NEXT).

THE MAIN DUDE OF THIS BAND IS DAN ST. JACQUES WHO BECOMES SOMETHING OF A LOAD RECORDS TOTEM SO MAYBE LET'S NOT SAY TOO MUCH ABOUT HIM (BESIDES ANYTHING WRITTEN ON THE INTERNET PRE 2010 HAS DISAPPEARED, GREAT ARCHIVE YOU GOT YOURSELF THERE.
