VINCEBUS ERUPTUM - VINCEBUS ERUPTUM (LOAD 051)

NAMED FOR THE HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL LONG PLAYER BY SAN FRANCISCO COMBO BLUE CHEER, VINCEBUS ERUPTUM (WHICH IS LATIN FOR BLUE CHEER, AMAZING, AMAZING WORK THAT BAND) IS ANOTHER LOAD RECORDS PROJECT FEATURING THE VERSATILE DAN ST. JACQUES AS WELL AS A DUDE WHO MANNED THE TRAPS FOR SIX FINGER SATELLITE.

WHILST THIS MEETING OF BLACK METAL AND HARD ROCK IS ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE MERELY COMPETENT (INDEED THERE IS SOME FLAIR AND GROOVE IN THERE) MY MAIN PROBLEM HERE IS THAT THEY ARE BASICALLY TAKING THE PISS. THE LYRICS OF "WHO FARTED?" ARE "WHO FARTED? YOU DID" REPEATED AD NAUSEUM.

I KNOW METAL AT ITS MOST HYPER-SERIOUS CAN BE EXTREMELY PO-FACED (A CHARGE THAT COULD BE LEVELLED AT KHANATE) AND THE WHOLE LOAD PROJECT IS KIND OF A REJECTION OF THAT BORING SINCERITY THAT CLOUDED UP INDEPENDENT MUSIC IN THE LATE 90S. BUT WOULD IT HAVE KILLED THESE GUYS TO COMMIT TO AN EMOTION OR A MOOD? I DUNNO GUYS. YOU COULD HAVE HAD A HIT IF YOU'D WRITTEN ME (IN 2020) FIRST.
